Many of the Images in my Revamped Site are Frame Grabs from S/VHS video tape shot and digitally processed by my students or myself at the Journalism Program at the University of the South Pacific, Suva, Fiji Islands, between October 2000 and July 2001. The Image on the right was shot by Reggie Dutt late on Friday, November 24, 2000 after the Journalism Program's Annual Awards Ceremony. If you look closely, you can see how I'm still drenched in sweat from the fearsome heat and humidity of a typical Fiji summer afternoon.

The picture of me on the left was taken by Yvette Isaac, a journalist with the Tuvalu Media Corporation in Fongafale, Tuvalu, in November, 2002. 'Palagi' (Phalangi) is a common Pacific term for Westerners, or outsiders, like me. Palagi Road is not where people like me are required to live in Fongafale.

The Background for this page is a scan of a taapa (woven coconut palm leaves) wall hanging given to me by staff at the Tuvalu Media Corporation in Fongafale in November, 2002. See my Pacific Odyssey Page for the whole story.
