VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
Welcome to LINC TV
LINC TV is a non - profit organisation that is self funded and
run with the assistance of volunteers like yourself. Volunteers are highly
valued members of the working community at LINC TV and your help as a volunteer
is always appreciated. In order to maximise the benefit of your work to
both yourself and the organisation, it is important that good communication
be maintained between all parties. For this reason, volunteers need to
familiarise themselves with the policies of LINC TV with regard to volunteering.
You will find below the basic principles of volunteering policy which have
been developed to protect the volunteer and the organisation.
- 1. To protect the integrity of LINC TV within the community, the name
LINC TV may not, under any circumstances, be used for any negotiations
either with any external person or organisation or for the acquisition
of goods or materials without the written approvel and appropriate identification
by the Station Manager.
- 2. Volunteers should have a commitment to the community and to the
aims of community television. It is likely that as a volunteer you will
encounter people with a wide range of differing opinions and it is important
that respect is shown by all to each other. Any greivances you may have
should be referred to the Co - ordinator to whom you are responsible but
in the event that conflicts cannot be resolved in a reasonable manner,
you may be asked to leave.
- 3. LINC volunteers are in constant contact with the general public
and therefore you are requested to be pleasant, helpful and presentable.
- 4. The House Rules are: No smoking in the building, no food or drink
near equipment, no unauthorised removal of equipment, and respect for others
at all times.
- 5. Misconduct will result in suspension of your services either temporarily
or permanently. Matters of a criminal nature will result in legal action.
- 6. Volunteers are on a trial of 40 hours over a minimum of four weeks.
This is for our mutual benefit so that we assess where talents best fit
in. During this time it is unlikely that you will carry much responsibility,
but afterwards -- the sky's the limit! During the trial period we can assess
in what areas you may need training.
Commitment and dedication are highly esteemed and attitude and potential
more important than skill alone.
- 7. Each volunteer will be assigned to a Departmental Co - ordinator
and by mutual consent a time commitment will be agreed upon. This initial
agreement will operate for one month or a forty hour trial period. Subsequent
agreement may be of a longer duration.
- 8. Each volunteer will sign on and off in the Volunteer Register which
is held as a record of your contribution for the purposes of references,
work experience, insurance and statistical analysis.
- 9. Each volunteer will ensure that confidential information gained
whilst working at LINC TV will remain confidential.
- 10. Station management reserves the right to ask any person, either
visiting or working, to leave the LINC TV premises, and that they will
subsequently be informed of their right to appeal this decision as defined
in the LINC Constitution.
